Mudjacking has a higher compressive strength than polyurethane foam. Contractors can increase the compressive strength of mudjacking material by adding cement. By doing this, they can achieve compressive strengths of up to 2,400 PSI.
Polyurethane's compressive strength is consistently around 80 - 100 PSI. The material should have a higher compressive strength than the existing sub base. While not as strong, polyurethane has an end result that is more attractive and has better long-term performance due to its ultra light weight.
Polyurethane concrete lifting is a great option when a lightweight material is needed, as with concrete that is less than 10 years in age. Long term effectiveness and appearance of injection holes are important. Lightweight material will not overburden the soil, especially on newer construction where the soil hasn’t had time to fully compress and adding excessive weight can result in further settling. However, some consumers will often look for the most inexpensive way to fix settled concrete instead. This is why conventional mudjacking will continue to be used.
